In our Fall 2025 LinkedIn Live event, we had the privilege of spotlighting a unique partnership that exemplifies healthcare innovation done right. Featuring Betsy Stovsky from the Cleveland Clinic and Ginny Pribanic of MedRespond, this session pulled back the curtain on a real-world success story in digital patient engagement.
A Collaboration Built on Clarity, Compassion, and Results
When the Cleveland Clinic Heart, Vascular, and Thoracic Institute set out to reimagine patient education, they had three clear goals:
Deliver an interactive experience tailored to individual surgeries and patient needs.
Reduce repetitive, process-heavy clinical conversations.
Leverage their existing EMR portal rather than layering on another tech tool.
Together with MedRespond and Rhyno Healthcare Solutions, they built a conversational platform that met those goals and exceeded expectations.
From Vision to Pilot to Full Implementation
The story began with a vision and two clinical champions. Through a five-month proof of concept, the team tested interactive education for aortic and mitral valve surgeries. Key outcomes:
Average 70 minutes of engagement per user
6+ sessions per patient on average
Improved clinical efficiency and reduced redundant calls
Patients weren’t just using the platform, they loved it. Nurses and care teams reported better-prepared patients with more meaningful questions. Clinical teams worked at the top of their license, while the tech team ensured integration with Epic using FHIR and other scalable approaches.
Real Results, Real Feedback
Cleveland Clinic continues to track high engagement and high satisfaction scores:
Users rated the experience over 4.3 out of 5
Patients praised the compassion and clarity of the content
Even the narrator was chosen by a patient advisory panel
One user shared, "I think you saved my life. You told me to use a clean towel. I would have never known."
Scaling Across the System
What began in cardiac expanded to EP and interventional heart programs. Each department had different workflows, challenges, and clinical needs; and the platform adapted with them. New content was created using modular scripts and patient FAQs, enabling expansion without rebuilding from scratch.
Security and technical complexity were addressed with a custom EMR-integrated order mechanism, real-time personalization, and no PHI stored by the vendor. The program remains flexible, living, and clinically aligned.
What’s Next?
With continued support from MedRespond and Rhyno, the clinic is expanding content, integrating new specialties, and inspiring others to follow suit. MedRespond has already begun private-labeling the program for other health systems across the U.S., adapting it to meet their needs and brands.
